The Diabetes Self-Management Alliance is delighted to announce that the 7th International Conference will be held in Leicester on 29 February and 1 March 2024.  Registration is now open.  

The theme for the Conference is 'Keeping the Balance Right' and we are delighted to announce the following plenary speakers:

  • Professor Melanie Davies, University of Leicester - 'Reflecting on the experiences and learning from 20 years of the DESMOND programme'
  • Dr Marleen Kunneman, Leiden University Medical Centre - 'Making Care Fit'
  • Matthew Garza, Diatribe and Professor Sean Dinneen, University of Galway - 'Doing our best together: how can we create the perfect balance between HCP and person living with diabetes?'

Over the 2 days attendees will have the opportunity to attend 5 interactive workshop sessions which will include:

  • Peer support for young people with type 2 diabetes
  • Drawing diabetes experience: tools to facilitate collaborative decision making in consultations
  • Diabetes distress - type 1 and type 2
  • Structured education for people with a learning disability and type 2 diabetes
  • Diabetes and work life - type 1 and type 2
  • Psychological impact of diabetes technology
  • Elderly diabetes care and end of life
  • Stigma and diabetes self-management
